Each of us carries around our own version of the English language. We have a shared history but each of us gives it a personal flavour, adding vocabulary and modifying usage before passing it on to the next generation.
By helping people become more familiar and friendly with their own language we think they will also gain a better grasp of its rich history, diversity and potential.
We follow with great interest the various debates about the English language (whether to do with spelling or the use of apostrophes). As an organisation we have no official view on these arguments. We are neutral. But we are happy to air the issues, always keen to provoke informed debate.
We are committed to undertaking all our projects in an intelligent, inclusive and entertaining way which involves (as far as possible) the English-speaking public across the globe
