One English language in two billion flavours: Why not sample them all?   

How do you feel about English? Is it a burden? Or a joy? And how much do you know about other people’s English? Indeed, how well do you know your own?

The English Project aims to make English-speakers across the world better aware of how their language has evolved and what is happening to it today...and tomorrow.

And we want to do this in conjunction with English-speakers themselves (i.e. YOU). This is central to our values.

We are starting to do this in a number of ways:

• books (such as Kitchen Table Lingo which reports on the ‘private’ language of English speakers)
• temporary and travelling exhibitions (we are working on the 'language of law' and sport)
• collections of words and phases (such as more Kitchen Table Lingo and Families’ Favourite Frazes)
• broadcasts both radio and TV  (for example, we are already involved in a project for ITV about  texting)
• through our website (which we intend to grow massively over the next few years)
• via a variety of debates, lectures and readings (both in our base in Winchester U.K and around the world)
• through permanent exhibitions and visitor attractions focused on the English language which will act as our flagship centres in key locations across the continents
• through educational undertakings both formal and informal.

Plus many other ways as the opportunity arise (such as games and competitions).
